What to do if money goes to the wrong account?

First of all, if you have done transaction through apps like Paytm, GPay, PhonePe, then you can ask for help on customer care in the app. First of all you can call the helpline number of your bank.

Save the message regarding money deduction that has come on your phone. The details given in this message are necessary for refund.

RBI has said in its guidelines that in case of sending money to the wrong account, you can complain by visiting Bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in.

You will also have to submit an application in the bank, in which along with your bank details, you will also have to enter the number of the account into which the money has been transferred. A legal complaint can also be filed.

Suppose you know who the wrong beneficiary is and he is refusing to return the money, then you can also lodge a complaint against him by visiting the NPCI website.

How to complain on NPCI website

First of all go to NPCI website. Click on Dispute Redressal Mechanism here. The transaction tab will appear here. Click on it. Many options will be visible here at once. Here transaction type, issue, transaction ID, bank, amount, date of transaction, email ID and mobile number have to be given. After giving bank account information, click. Your complaint will be registered. Information about whatever action has been taken on your complaint will be received on email.
