First things first: If you accidentally transfer money to the wrong number or UPI ID, first contact UPI customer care. Also, inform your bank branch that you have accidentally transferred money to someone else.
Apart from all this, contact the person who made the wrong online payment. Ask for your money back. If they don’t listen to you, you can file a complaint.
You can file a complaint and get your money back: If the other person refuses to return the money, an FIR can be filed against him. If someone’s money is mistakenly deposited in your account, you can file a complaint yourself and get the money back to the person who has the money. If you don’t do this, it is a violation of RBI rules. In such a case, you may have to pay a fine and may even be punished.
Remember these 3 things while transferring money online: Check the account number and IFSC code carefully. Check the phone number or UPI ID correctly. When sending money through UPI or IMPS, cross-verify the name.
